What we fix

These are the calls that keep Waco kitchens, bathrooms and laundry rooms running. Not a forty-item franchise menu.

01

Leaks & burst pipes

Under-sink drips, leaks in the wall, and lines that split in a hard freeze. We shut it off, stop the damage and make a permanent fix, usually on the same visit. Wet vacs and drop cloths come with us.

02

Slab leak detection & repair

Central Texas clay swells when it rains and shrinks in drought, and the pipes under your slab take the stress. Warm spots on the floor, a meter that won't stop or a water bill that jumps. We locate the leak electronically, then go over spot repair, reroute or repipe with you.

03

Water heaters

Gas and electric tanks, tankless, in the garage, closet or attic. Same-day replacement on most standard tanks. We size anode rods and set up flush valves for our hard water, and tankless only when it actually makes sense for your house.

04

Drains & sewer lines

Snake first, hydro-jet when grease or roots call for it, camera inspection when the problem keeps coming back. Older homes here often have cast-iron drains under the slab or clay sewer lines in the yard, and live oaks and pecans love both.

05

Foundation repair plumbing tests

Having foundation work done? Many foundation companies and buyers want a plumbing test before and after the house is leveled. We run hydrostatic tests on drain lines and pressure tests on water lines, and give you a written report.

06

Repiping

Galvanized pipe in older Waco homes, polybutylene in some 1980s and early-1990s builds, or copper with one leak after another. We repipe with PEX, usually in a few days, and patch the openings after.

07

Fixtures, toilets & disposals

Faucets, toilets, shutoff valves, garbage disposals, hose bibs. Code-correct supply lines and wax rings, and we haul off the old one.

08

Gas lines & water softeners

Permitted gas lines for ranges, dryers, tankless heaters and outdoor kitchens. Water softener loops and installs that don't starve the ice maker. Under-sink reverse osmosis for drinking water.

24/7 emergency plumbing

Answered day and night, every day. Same flat-rate pricing after hours.

Do this first

  1. Close the main shutoff. In most Waco homes it's in a box near the street by the meter, or a valve where the line enters the house, often near an outside hose bib or in the garage. A pier-and-beam house may have it under the house near the front.
  2. Shut off the water heater if that's the leak: gas valve to "off" or the breaker for electric, then close the cold valve on top.
  3. Open a faucet at the lowest point of the house to drain pressure off the lines.
  4. Take photos for insurance.
  5. Smell gas? Leave the house, don't flip switches, and call 911 or your gas utility's emergency number from outside.

Before a hard freeze

Texas freezes are rare, but when one hits, houses built for heat take the damage. Before a freeze: cover hose bibs, wrap exposed pipes in the attic, garage and under pier-and-beam homes, open cabinet doors on outside walls, and let faucets drip. If a pipe bursts, close the main and call us. Know where your main shutoff is before the cold arrives.

Emergencies we handle

  • Burst and frozen pipes
  • Active slab leaks
  • Leaking water heaters and failed relief valves
  • Sewage backing up into tubs, showers or yard cleanouts
  • No water to the house
  • Gas line leaks, once the utility has made it safe

How pricing works

Homeowners reading a written upfront quote in their kitchen

Flat-rate, upfront

We price the job, not the hour. The plumber diagnoses the problem, then hands you a written price for the whole job before any work starts. If there's more than one good way to fix it, you'll see the options side by side.

The diagnostic fee

We'll tell you the diagnostic fee when you call, before anyone gets in a truck. No surprises at the door.

Same price at night

No overtime markup. Tuesday afternoon or Sunday at midnight, the quote is the same.

If we find something else

If we open a wall and find more than expected, we stop, show you, and quote it before going further. You're never on the hook for work you didn't approve.

Paying

Major credit and debit cards and checks. Financing is available on approved credit for larger jobs like water heaters, repipes and slab leak repairs.

Waco

Castle Heights, Sanger Heights, Provident Heights, Dean Highland, Brook Oaks, Lake Shore, North Waco, East Waco, the Baylor area and the Columbus Avenue historic district.

The older neighborhoods near Baylor and downtown have 1910s–1950s homes, many on pier and beam, with galvanized supply lines, cast-iron drains and clay sewer lines under big pecan and live oak trees. Plenty of them are rentals and student houses that see heavy use. Castle Heights and Lake Shore mix older brick ranches with bigger homes. Newer parts of town are mostly slab-on-grade brick ranches.

Woodway & Hewitt

1970s–2000s brick homes on slabs, many with copper or cast iron under the floor that's starting to show its age. Slab leaks and water heater replacements are the regular calls.

Robinson, Lorena & McGregor

Mix of older town homes and newer subdivisions, plus houses on bigger lots with long water service lines and septic systems. We handle the plumbing side. Ask us about long service lines and well tie-ins.

China Spring, Bellmead, Lacy Lakeview & Beverly Hills

Newer builds in China Spring, older homes in Bellmead and Lacy Lakeview, and plenty of homes along the Highway 84 and I-35 corridors. Drain, sewer and water heater work are the common calls.

Why Pecan Hollow

01

Built for Waco water and Waco dirt

Our water leaves scale, and our clay soil moves. We size anode rods and flush ports for the water, and we look for soil-related stress on pipes before blaming the fixture.

The price comes first

03

We don't upsell

Tankless isn't right for every house, and a repair is often better than a replacement. We'll tell you when the cheaper option is the right one.

04

Clean and careful

Shoe covers, drop cloths, wet vacs on every truck. We leave it cleaner than we found it.

05

We stand behind our work

If something we fixed isn't right, call us and we'll come back and make it right.

  1. Call or send the form. A real person answers and asks what's going on.

  2. We tell you the diagnostic fee and give you an arrival window, then text when the plumber is on the way.

  5. We fix it and clean up, haul off the old parts and show you the finished work.

Questions people ask

Do you charge more on nights and weekends?

No. There's no overtime markup on emergency calls. The flat-rate quote you get on a Sunday at midnight is the same as a Tuesday afternoon. We'll tell you the diagnostic fee on the phone before we send anyone, and you'll get the full price in writing before any work starts.

How do I know if I have a slab leak?

Common signs are a warm spot on the floor, the sound of running water when everything is off, a water bill that jumps, or a meter that keeps spinning with every faucet closed. Cracks in tile or damp carpet can be signs too. Call us and we'll locate it electronically before anyone breaks concrete.

Why does Central Texas soil cause plumbing leaks?

Much of the Waco area sits on expansive clay that swells when it's wet and shrinks during drought. That movement shifts slabs and pier-and-beam foundations, which stresses water lines and drain pipes under and around the house. Over the years, joints loosen and pipes crack. It's one of the most common reasons we find leaks here.

Do I need a plumbing test before foundation repair?

Often, yes. Many foundation companies ask for a test before leveling to find existing leaks, and again after, since lifting a house can stress the pipes. We run a hydrostatic test on drain lines and a pressure test on water lines, then give you a written report you can share with the foundation company or a buyer.

How do I protect my pipes before a hard freeze?

Disconnect and cover outdoor hose bibs, wrap exposed pipes in the attic, garage and under pier-and-beam homes, and open cabinet doors on outside walls. On the coldest nights, let faucets drip on both hot and cold sides. Most important: know where your main shutoff is and make sure it turns before the cold arrives.

Do I need a water softener in Waco?

Not always. Waco-area water is hard enough to leave scale on fixtures and inside water heaters, but whether a softener is worth it depends on your household, your water heater and how much the spotting bothers you. We can test your water on site and explain softener and reverse osmosis options without pushing either one.

Do you work on older homes near Baylor?

Yes, a lot. Homes in the neighborhoods around Baylor and downtown often have galvanized supply lines, cast-iron drains and clay sewer lines, many on pier and beam. We work with homeowners, landlords and property managers, and we'll send photos and a written quote to the owner if a tenant calls us out.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. On this demo the license is shown as Texas RMP #DEMO-0000, a fictional number. A real Texas plumbing company's license number appears on every quote and invoice, and you can verify it with the state plumbing board before hiring anyone, including us. We're insured for every job we do.

Who we are

Pecan Hollow is a small, locally owned plumbing crew in Waco. Our founder, Wade Hollis, grew up in North Waco and learned the trade on old pier-and-beam houses near Baylor, where nothing is square and every crawl space has a surprise. He started Pecan Hollow to run a shop where the plumber explains what's wrong, prices it up front and cleans up after.

Most of the crew live in Hewitt and North Waco. When you call, you get people who know which neighborhoods have cast iron under the slab and which streets have old clay sewer lines under the pecan trees.
